Closing Ceremony

Mentors are amazing, thanks. Cat and Stephanie, too.

Feedback session:

  • Rob: More coffee beans
  • Crowd is too big for unconference post it system.
Leslie: Maybe move them outside to the patio so people can file by?
  • Scheduling online.
  • Scheduling in person!
  • Unconference planning in Melange/virtually (email to carols required)
  • Some planning and writing of postits at the hotel the night before
  • Summit much better this year than last.
  • Add more time between accepted orgs announced and proposals being opened, so we can make leaflets/videos
  • Add some longer session slots/tracks
  • Fail/Pass/Partial as outcomes of a project (email to carols required)
  • Hard time limits on the time to add and move sessions(email to carols required)
  • Badges shouldn't be single-sided
  • SummitApp (to be written by Crawford!)
  • More chocolate! Or just chocolate next year.
  • Chocolate fridge
  • Org name on badges the same size as real names
  • More/better food at breakfast
  • Etherpad difficulties, too much wiki editing and working protocol out at the moment, maybe have the notes page for each session setup ahead of time.
  • Zurich!
  • Still want double sided on the badges
  • Large floorplans next to the schedule boards
  • How to run a session wikipage to instruct people to take roll at each session, as sometimes attendee lists didn't get recorded this year
  • Update the wiki to say "I was there" on session pages if you're not already there
  • Use the big monitors in the halls for sessions and maps
  • Remotes for the projectors!
  • Use IRC, not face to face
  • Bring swimsuits!
  • More planning for the music session at the party
  • More restrooms
  • Introduce ourselves at the start of the summit
  • Collaborate more on the wiki before the conference
  • Google Eng presentation on why they're so awesome!
Carol: The reason we didn't is this is mentor only, so if you promise to be good, we can.
  • More demonstrations!
  • Force-hire googlers as mentors.
Carol: We don't force people, only people who have time.
  • Mentor pool for people that want to be mentors but aren't open source contributors.
  • It would be nice if Android people came, so open the conference to everyone
  • Discuss tech talks in advance on the wiki or in the hotel
  • Discounts for the shop
  • Thank you Carol!
